Jim Wallis: A Real Christian
The Message Thing
By JIM WALLIS
Until Democrats are willing to be honest about the need for
compelling political vision, they will never get the
message right.

Jim Wallis is the leading spokesperson for the liberal evangelicals -- he tried to work with Bush when we was first elected but found that was impossible. In his suggested agenda here for Democrats, he gets most things right. I would worry a bit about curbing speech -- even porn -- by legal restrictions -- and I would have liked to see a defense of effective contraception policies that are the only way to reduce abortions effectively. However, Wallis does start the agenda with what we all should be doing in our own interest as well as those 13 million U.S. kids suffering from it -- alleviating poverty. And hopefully he will include somewhere there effective education and provision of the many jobs that need to be done by those eager and able to work.
