New Yahoo Group: "Finding Humane Jobs"
Our national unemployment statistics, unlike those of Europe, only count people looking for jobs and count people as employed who may be drastically under-employed.
Needless to say, as a social/political/legal philosopher, I am not exactly a professional job counselor, but I have looked into and practiced a good number of career options along the way myself, so might be able to help others here and there. I have lost count of the numbers of recommendations that I have written for job and graduate/professional studies candidates over the years, so have a little background experience there, too. I figured others might similarly be able to assist people looking for new options -- that marvelous line: "The old sheep know the way; the young sheep need to find it."
So, if you are interested come and visit:

or subscribe FindingHumaneJobs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
I shall try to keep this list fairly open with links added along the way unless spammers become a nuisance and will be posting to it interesting jobs that come my way from such places as the Immigrants Rights groups, some specialized academic things, and other job and career prospects. For example, nursing is now booming as a much in demand career and Ph.D. programs are opening up that allow one to get advanced training leading to Nurse Practitioner status along with, say, raising a young family. Yale Medical School's head of research currently is a nurse practitioner. Salaries are surprisingly high in some categories:

Others are welcome to suggest careers that may be lost in the general shuffle of job or profession hunting.
