Another Innocent Gitmo Detainee Reports on His Five Years of Abuse There

[It is a well known fact -- acknowledged by President Musharraf during his visit last year to this country -- that the U.S. was handing out bounties to anyone in Pakistan who would turn in a "terrorist." Needless to say many a crook collected this bounty and in many cases also took revenge against an enemy or someone to whom they owed money. The failure of the U.S. to provide the most basic legal protections to our detainees combined with the now well documented torture carried out at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo constitute a national disgrace that few would have believed possible before the advent of a Bush administration run by neocons. Read below one of the many hundreds of cases and notice the increasing numbers of reports by our own interrogators at their shame for the crimes against such individuals in which they participated. I watched two of them report on a TV program the other day how badly they felt that they had carried out the orders of their superiors to torture which they realized at the time were outrageous and criminal -- and a total failure for discovering useful information. By Lou Dubose, The Washington Spectator
In 2001, 19-year-old Murat Kurnaz was an innocent man caught

terrorist, he spent five years in Guantanamo before being
released -- now he's telling his story.
