Iraq Needs the Help of the Rest of the World -- Not the U.S.

[As the article on Wolfowitz posted at the conclusion of this comment suggests, the world has lost confidence in the Bush administration with its deceits, dishonesties, and brutalities. Needless to say the go-it-alone stance of Bush and Co. in Iraq is just creating more disaster there for the Iraqis and for us Americans who are trying to bear this impossible peace-making burden on our own.

The so-called Coalition of the Willing was a fraud devised by Rumsfeld and other neocons to permit U.S. expansion of its military dominance in the Middle East. Bush I had not been so stupid. He had mobilized a broad-based coalition to drive Hussein out of Kuwait and quit the action when that goal had been achieved.

Our U.S. military is on the verge of crashing. Bush, Cheney and other idiots keep talking of winning a war against terrorism. Ironically they are the ones who are fueling it and putting the U.S. at risk of G-d knows what disasters down the line. There is no such thing as winning a war against terrorism. Terrorism does not exist. The word is a fiction. Killers abound around the world -- some of them in there for profit and others for revenge. Calling them terrorists and calling for a war on them only gives romantic support to the killing games that they (and we) are playing with each other. These word games presuppose losing the war -- no one can win a fictional war against anyone. There is no target, no base to attack -- merely angry and vindictive mainly younger people growing in numbers as we call upon them to fight us to the bitter end. They may just do that.

And so it goes. Ed Kent]
