Bush Still Trying to Please Daddy?

One of the sad things about not so talented sons of noted figures is that they all too often feel embarrassed about their failures and compelled somehow to cover them up. Such a person is liable to be a dangerously driven personality. One of the comments of Bush that more or less leapt out of the text this past week was his claim that he had not gotten an 'A' in his economics class, only a 'B':

"I think I got a B in Econ 101."

This is an outright lie. Bush only got one B-minus in all his grades at Yale -- the remainder were Cs:

He got a C- in that econ class and went on to Harvard Business with that poor record to protest the New Deal reforms periodically from the back of the classroom. What Bush did do at Yale was campaign for the presidency of DKE -- the jock frat -- by making up nicknames for its members. You will note this style of conduct in Bush's presidency -- claiming special friendships with such as Putin while distorting the basic facts on fundamental matters ranging from our failures in Iraq to the frailty of the U.S. economy with his persistent tax cuts leading to massive deficits. The dollar has dropped from $.87 per Euro five years ago to $1.40+ yesterday. The Canadian dollar has caught up to ours and may pass us by.

We are living now in a dangerous period as this guy tries to vindicate his life failures -- Daddy still watches on with, one suspects, considerable worry as well.
