Abortion Opponents Are the Real Killers!
[Let's face up to a bit of reality. Those who oppose abortion are killers -- of children underfunded throughout the world where over population is a critical problem, of women denied the right to abort an unwanted potential child. Abortion only became an issue late in the 19th century when both the Catholic Church and doctors suddenly took it up and opposed it. Until that time midwives who delivered babies also provided abortion remedies which were permitted up until quickening -- about half way through a pregnancy when the mother began to feel fetal movement. Women are sadly dying by the thousands in poor nations where abortions are now outlawed (most of Latin America with the exception of Cuba). Perhaps now some women here in the U.S. will also die when they are denied the rare emergency abortion procedure which 5 justices have decided to ban? Unhappily make-it-up-as-you-go-along religious types have won another round at the hands of our tipped Supreme Court. Sadly Americans do not realize that when they are voting for presidents, they may also be voting for wars and courts representing the narrowest of economic and social views. So goes the rule of law down the tubes once more. Shame! Would that our pols were as passionate about providing food, shelter, and medical care for real living children! Ed Kent]
